5-day route from Marrakech to the Merzouga desert

Embark on an exciting 5-day adventure from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert.

Day 1: Departure from Marrakech and Explore Southern Morocco

Start your day early, leaving Marrakech at dawn to head south. 

Visit the Kasbah of Telouet, the former residence of the Glaoui family, known for its beautiful gardens and rich history.

Continue through the picturesque Ounila Valley, admiring traditional houses and lush green fields. 

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, famous for its stunning views of the High Atlas and its role in various films. 

End the day in Ouarzazate, where you will spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 2: Discover the Valley of Roses and Dades Gorges

Begin your second day with a visit to the Kasbah Taourirt and the Amerhidil Kasbah in Skoura, an ancient fortress built to protect the wealth of the Glaoui family. 

Journey through the beautiful Valley of Roses, renowned for its purple rose gardens that stretch endlessly. Proceed to the Dades Valley, known for its dramatic mountain scenery. 

Spend the night in a hotel in the Dades Gorges, surrounded by stunning rock formations.

Day 3: Sahara Desert Tour and Sand Dunes Hike

On the third day, travel towards the Sahara Desert. 

Visit the Berber villages of Boumalne and Tinghir, then head to the spectacular Todra Gorges.

After lunch, continue to Erfoud, known for its fossil finds. 

Arrive in Merzouga, where you will embark on a camel trek, exploring the magnificent sand dunes. 

Admire the sunset over the dunes and spend the night in a luxury camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, enjoying dinner around a campfire with a Berber music show.

Day 4: Visit Zagora

Begin your fourth day with a departure from Merzouga towards Zagora. Visit ancient Berber cities and kasbahs, taking in the stunning desert landscapes. 

Explore the Tamegroute museum, known for its old library. Spend the night in a local hotel in Zagora, experiencing the unique culture of the region.

Day 5: Return to Marrakech

On the final day, depart from Zagora and head back towards Marrakech, traveling through the scenic Atlas Mountains. 

Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon or evening, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
